AQL-based sampling: what buyers must define
Technical resource. English terminology is retained for inspection accuracy.
Random inspection is only meaningful when the lot, sampling approach, defect categories and acceptance criteria are understood before the result is interpreted.
Define the lot correctly
The inspector needs to know what finished quantity is considered the inspection lot and whether the goods are sufficiently complete for representative selection.
Separate defect classes
Critical, major and minor defects represent different consequences. Buyers should agree product-specific examples before inspection whenever possible.
Sampling does not mean every unit was checked
A sample-based result describes the inspected sample under the agreed plan. The report should clearly state the sample basis and observed defects.
Product-specific regulatory or safety requirements may require testing or controls beyond visual random inspection.
